This is the phrase we hear most often in our CaringWays® success stories from people who receive financial support during their medical journey. When you’re a patient battling cancer or someone receiving addiction treatment, you may feel immense gratitude when others support your journey by giving to your campaign. Expressing that gratitude is one of the best ways to optimize your CaringWays® campaign. However, finding a way to thank people who donate can sometimes be a challenge.
We recognize this is an incredibly challenging season for you. While thanking donors is a kind idea, it shouldn’t be a drain on your limited energy and capacity. The people who donate to your campaign recognize your situation. Most of them aren’t expecting anything in return—they just want to support you in this season. Even a simple text can be so meaningful. Pace yourself and take it slow. When you’re feeling ready, check out these ideas:
As a patient or CareChampion, you can see all the people who donate to your CaringWays® campaign in real-time. Here are a few simple ways you can say “thank you” if you’re looking for a way to express your gratitude:
Handwritten notes are still one of the most powerful ways to express gratitude. If you have a brief moment in your day, taking the time to write down how much you appreciate the donation in a handwritten note conveys thoughtfulness and sincerity. Choose special stationery, a favorite pen, or some stickers to add an even more personal touch.
You might not have time to write out a thank you note for every donor. That’s ok! Sending an email can be just as meaningful. Email is an easy way to send a heartfelt thank you to a bigger group of supporters. To streamline the process, you can even create a basic draft and add a sentence or two of personalization if you want to send individualized emails. But don’t discount the effect of a big update email. Supporters love feeling like they’re part of a big group, each playing a small part in your healing.
Social media is a powerful tool for medical fundraising and is an easy platform to use when thanking donors. A simple shout-out on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, or LinkedIn is a great way to shine a spotlight on your supporters and say thank you to donors. There are dozens of ways you can easily thank donors on social media. One idea is to tag donors in a quick post each time they donate to champion their generosity. You could also shoot a quick video each week and spotlight a few people who contributed.
One of the most powerful ways to express gratitude is to highlight the impact donations are making in your life. You can do this by sharing regular updates on your CaringWays® campaign or even posting a picture on social media. If you’re a CareChampion, you can collaborate with your loved one to highlight the impact your campaign is making in their life.
Few things are more meaningful than taking a few moments to talk to someone who cares. If you or your family have time between appointments or treatments, a quick five-minute or ten-minute call can help express gratitude. An added bonus: the person you call may share some much-needed encouragement, kindness, and compassion for you as well!
We realize that finding the right words to say can also be a challenge. Here are a few different ways you can say thank you to those who give to your CaringWays® campaign:
